April 28, 2026 – Troy High School Varsity Softball delivered an overwhelming performance on Tuesday at Avondale High School, sweeping a doubleheader in dominant fashion with final scores of 21–0 and 18–3. Troy’s offense was relentless across both games, highlighted by explosive innings, disciplined plate appearances, and aggressive base running. In Game 1, Troy set the tone early with a massive first inning and never looked back. Bultynck led the charge with a standout performance, driving in five runs on three hits, including two triples and a single. She also contributed at the plate with patience, drawing a walk that brought in another run. Troy capitalized on early opportunities, using a combination of hits, walks, and Avondale miscues to build an insurmountable lead. The momentum continued into the second and third innings, where Troy added 11 more runs behind key contributions from across the lineup. King delivered a bases-clearing double, while Kehl and Fairman each drove in runs to extend the lead. Troy finished with 10 hits and 12 walks, showcasing a disciplined and consistent approach at the plate. The team also applied pressure on the basepaths, swiping nine stolen bases. In the circle, Herron was dominant, throwing three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five and walking none. Game 2 followed a similar script, with Troy erupting for 13 runs in the opening inning to immediately take control. The inning featured contributions throughout the lineup, including RBI hits from Fairman and Hurd, while Bultynck added to her strong day with a two-run double and an RBI walk. Troy’s ability to work counts led to nine walks in the game. The offense stayed hot in the second inning when Higginbotham delivered an inside-the-park grand slam, driving in four of Troy’s five runs in the frame and finishing with three RBIs on the day. King continued to set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-2, while Troy once again applied pressure on the bases with eight stolen bases. Herron returned to the circle in Game 2, allowing three runs (none earned) over three innings while striking out five. Across both games, Troy’s success was fueled by: Consistent offensive production up and down the lineup.
