Sandusky, MI — Troy United made the two-hour trip north Monday night to face Thumb Area Legion at the Sandusky 4-H Fairgrounds and came away with an 8–2 road victory. Alternate captain Ben Dumas (Athens High School) opened the scoring, snapping home a rebound to give Troy United the early lead. Kaiser Ascencio (AHS) followed by slipping a shot through the five-hole to make it 2–0. Captain Joey Clark (Troy High School) added to the advantage, and on the power play, Dumas struck again—finishing a feed from his brother, goaltender Noah Dumas (AHS)—to cap a dominant 4–0 first period. The second period remained scoreless in an evenly played frame, highlighted by several spectacular saves from Noah Dumas and strong defensive play in front of him. Senior defenseman Quentin Gatto (THS) and the Troy United blue line did an excellent job limiting Thumb Area’s offensive chances throughout the game. Thumb Area broke through during four-on-four play early in the third period, but Troy United responded as the Legion ran into penalty trouble. Troy United capitalized with four unanswered goals to pull away. Dumas completed his hat trick, while additional goals came from Ascencio, Alex Lowry (AHS), and Breiden Blaeske (AHS) to secure the 8–2 final.
